Book update...

Sorry - I completely forgot to update Alex and Matt on their suggested reading.

Alex - I have a few for you. I know you like Ian McEwan, and someone who has a different style, but a similar way of going about telling a story, as well as being all encompassing and aptly American, is Paul Auster. Last summer, I could not read enough Paul Auster. I may be wrong, but I think I've seen you read some autobiography about difficult lives, and books that top that type of genre, in terms of literary talent more than outrageous detail, are Angela's Ashes and 'Tis by Frank McCourt, and Bad Blood by Lorna Sage.

(Anna - on the theme of the nature of courts, and the failure of justice, read As if by Blake Morrison. It's about the James Bulger trial, and made me weep with frustration...)

Matt - You're a difficult one - you know I've asked you for some clues, and I asked Anna for help. Anna, what did we decide? Comment and help me out! We thought books of less ambiguity and uncertainty would be most satisfying to you Matt. I'm going to continue thinking.
