I thought this was hilarious....

I was chatting away to my friend Catherine, who I haven't seen for about a year, and she told me this story, which I thought was fucking hilarious. She said she'd told it to lots of people who didn't crack a smirk, so I'm interested - is this just us or is it actually funny?

So, Catherine's at the bar. A very very drunk man staggers up. Catherine is wary, but she's ok, she has her fake name already decided. So:

Drunk man: Hellghtyio

Catherine: Hello

Drunk man goes to shake Catherine's hand. She considers this - she really doesn't want to shake his hand. Not at all. But ultimately she decides that shaking the hand is easier than not, and having to explain to a drunk person why she doesn't want to shake his hand.

Drunk man: Whasht's your name?

Catherine: Penelope

Drunk man: Ooh- I know you...'Follow the yellow brick road...la..la.la'

Catherine leaves.

Hmmmm...maybe it works better when told in person....
