I thought it was time...

I thought it was time to leave another post. I promised a proper update after I had got drunk, and had some sleep, but to be honest, silly stories and happenings have gone past the stage of being posted and into the realms of memory. I did indeed get drunk...horrifyingly quickly. Only getting drunk monthly does not alcohol tolerance enhance. So few glasses of wine and I was happily sloshed. Sleep was more difficult to come by, although I did pass out very quickly at 4am on Saturday morning, I was up before 9.30am. I'm doing my best, but the problem with living where you work, is being awake is often equal to being on duty, and you have to work hard not to get roped in all the time. And I'm going through another 'unable to have a lie-in' phase. And 6am is a normal waking hour for a teacher with 3 hours to teach and no preparation done. There are many and various advantages of being here. The teachers are funny, irreverant, cynical, lovely and silly. The students are funny and fabulous. The only down side is lesson planning, and weird and unpredictable working times. Although I nominally had Sunday off, it was a big arrival day, so I was there to move cases and students.
I'm currently having charging issues with my phone, so I can't keep in touch with y'all as much as I'd like. Jen, please come to Cambridge for a weekend, or somewhere for a day - Brighton? London? Somewhere...
Right, now to the elephant in the sitting room. I think the recent brush with a house revealed some issues. We all knew it was likely to happen - one person doing lots and lots of work due to the commitments of other people, but I would like to say thank you muchly for Matt for being the most active member of house-hunters. We did mention previously, but it was brushed under some idealistic carpet, that each person should write a list of order of priorities and budgets for the house they want. I think we thought we'd all automatically know, and assumed we all felt the same. This is evidently not the case, so I think this would be a good idea. I also think it's important to look for the houses at the same time. As far as I'm concerned, every member of the group is looking for a 4 bedroom house and a 5 bedroom house. If we start splitting responsibility, factions are going to split further - if we find one house, does the other house have to fall in line with the area? Do they have to compromise in order to live in the same area as the other house, which happens to be perfect? We need everyone, who is able, to be looking for both, because a good house goes quickly, and we need as much opinion and information about every house that is a possibility. We need to know the grounds on which a house is veto-ed. We need to be realistic about rent, and also be able to set our budget. We need a lot more, but I can't think about it right now. I need to plan a lesson.
Am I lecturing? I'm really fucking sorry, I sound like I have my head very up my arse and am living on teacher planet (what a lovely image), but...hmmm...I'm ranting.
Love you xxx
